The Clinic is currently looking for volunteer Condom Ladies.

Please note: this application process is only open to current Women’s Community Clinic volunteers. Exceptions may be made for people with considerable outreach experience.

Condom Ladies/Street Outreach
Two evenings a week, our volunteer Condom Ladies provide health education and harm reduction materials that include safer sex, safer injection, wound care and hygienic supplies to women on the street and in single room occupancy (SRO) hotel rooms in the Mission district.

Our services include:
• Distribution of prevention materials such as condoms, hygiene kits and safer drug use kits
• Provision of health education and risk reduction information
• Referrals to appropriate health and social services

Responsibilities:
• Outreach (one 4-5 hour shift per week), including giving health supplies, information, and referrals
• Prepare outreach supplies
• Conduct client surveys, as necessary
• Complete outreach data forms
• Attend trainings to ensure that knowledge is up to date; 1st required training will be Saturday, October 10, 2009

Job requirements:
• Must be available to work Monday or Tuesday evenings, from approximately 5-9pm
• Ability to lift boxes, carry outreach bag, and walk up to 4 hours at a time
• Thorough knowledge and support of harm reduction philosophy

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with homeless populations, SROs, or outreach a bonus
• Health education experience preferred
• Access to a cell phone for use on shifts
• Spanish speaking ability
