Women’s Community Clinic
Since 1999, the Women’s Community Clinic has utilized a volunteer-based model of care—the only one of its kind in the Bay Area—to create a safe, welcoming environment where women can access health services. We honor our mission to improve the health and well-being of women and girls by providing free sexual and reproductive health services, outreach services, and health career training programs.
Job Description:
The Clinic’s upcoming 10th anniversary and move to a new location next year are exciting opportunities for increased visibility, community re-engagement, and media coverage. The Communications Associate will play a vital role in designing and implementing public relations and marketing efforts while gaining hands on experience working in a non-profit community organization. Qualified applicants should be committed to working in a diverse, pro-choice environment.
Job responsibilities include:
Public Relations
- Develop and implement media strategy and tactics
- Draft press releases, talking points, media alerts, and other materials
- Pitch news stories to reporters, producers, and editors
- Build media lists; monitor and track media coverage
Planning and Project Management
- Design and implement annual communications plan that meets the Clinic’s strategic goals
- Manage in-kind services relating to graphic design, website, media, and communications
- Supervise in-kind service providers and interns
- Provide staff, board, and volunteers with media training and communications skill building
Online Communications and Social Networking
- Develop innovative strategies to reach target audiences through online campaigns
- Manage all online activities, including Facebook, Twitter, Google AdWords, and Yelp
- Work with website designer to develop and update website content. Note: The Clinic has a web and HTML consultant who will execute the more sophisticated design and upkeep
Collateral Development
- Manage the Clinic brand and effectively maintain brand identity
- Write and manage production of any publications or communications materials
- Proofread and copy edit documents
- Order, track, and promote sale of Clinic merchandise
- Write and manage production of any publications or communications materials (in collaboration with the Development Director)
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years public relations or marketing experience, ideally working with nonprofits
- Strong commitment to the mission and goals of the Women’s Community Clinic
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written format
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Position involves lifting, carrying, and walking up stairs
- Preferred: Graphic design experience (Adobe Illustrator, Photo Shop, InDesign)
- Preferred: Basic HTML and website knowledge (WordPress)
- Preferred: Salesforce CRM database experience
