Monica Bell began health educating this spring, but she has been involved in it since October ‘06, when she was introduced to the Clinic by a friendly stranger (soon-to-be-friend in her ethics class). One of the projects for the class required picking and partnering with a community organization to complete a service project. As this class was at a private, Jesuit University, the ONLY rule was that students were not to spend the semester passing out condoms… Whoops! Since that fall, during which she did outreach work (passing out LOTS and LOTS of free condoms and other personal care items at Ladies Nights in the Mission), she has been a summer AmeriCorps Intern and CSC. When Monica isn’t busy pushing free condoms at the Clinic, she enjoys fondling fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers’ markets, going on bike rides and thinking up ambitious combinations for pizza-with-friends Fridays!
