Integrative Mental Health Provider

Job Overview

The Integrative Mental Health (IMH) Provider delivers care in a community clinic setting for a broad range of cisgender women and transgender clients of different ages, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds. In addition, the IMH Program Manager will play a lead role in supporting the on-going development and sustainability of integrative mental health services at the Clinic by developing organization-wide policies, protocols and systems to deliver client-centered mental health care in tandem with primary care, reproductive health, and psychiatric services while working with and supervising members of an interdisciplinary team of staff. The IMH Program Manager works closely with other clinical and administrative staff to coordinate care, optimize clinic systems, and provide team-based approaches to client care.

Key Responsibilities

Client Care

  • Conducts initial visit including detailed mental health history and education about the nature of mental illness and the goals and expectations of treatment
  • Consults with client, medical provider, and psychiatrist (when appropriate) about treatment options and preferences; coordinates initiation of treatment plan and works as “Care Manager” to support proper coordination of care throughout clinical services
  • Monitors client (in-person or by phone) for changes in severity of symptoms and medication side effects
  • Provides evidence-based, brief structured psychotherapy
  • Participates in regular case consultation with psychiatrist, focusing on clients not adequately improved within specified timeframe
  • Coordinates and facilitates communication between client, primary care provider and consulting psychiatrist
  • Documents all encounters according to organizational policies and procedures
  • Facilitates treatment referrals, as needed

Program Development

  • In conjunction with Mental Health Director, creates a financially and programmatically sustainable IMH program.
  • In conjunction with Mental Health Director, develops, documents and implements appropriate IMH protocols and procedures that support client and third-party billing.
  • Works with administrative leadership to develop IMH contract relationships, billing systems, and financial models, as necessary.
  • Champions mental health integration with primary care and gynecological services.
  • Works with clinical and operational staff to create and improve IMH workflows that support high quality client care and business sustainability.
  • Trains MAs and RNs on implementing behavioral health and substance use screening tools.
  • Provides leadership within the interdisciplinary team to meet the goals of the HRSA NEPQR grant. This includes but is not limited to: providing and/or coordinating training for staff and students on Motivational Interviewing and integration of IMH into care teams; operationalizing screening and tracking tools into clinical work flows; maximizing the use of EHR for client follow up and tracking outcomes, developing cultural competency framework and practices, attending regular meeting/trainings, working closely with Project Coordinator and Project Director to make progress, meet goals, and submit grant reports.

Supervisory

  • Supervises and supports Care Support Coordinators
  • Coordinates Care Support Coordinator recruitment, selection, and orientation.
  • Coordinates ongoing Care Support Coordinator schedules
  • Incorporates Care Support Coordinators into IMH workflows, case conferences, and other interdisciplinary learning and professional development opportunities
  • Provides clinical supervision to other mental health team members, as needed

General

  • Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA standards always
  • Participates in committees or work groups as assigned/appointed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to the mission and goals of HealthRIGHT360, Lyon-Martin Health Services, & Women’s Community Clinic.
  • LCSW or PsyD from an accredited program
  • Active license as an LCSW or clinical psychologist through the appropriate licensing authority–must hold license at time of application and be ready to start credentialing process immediately
  • Desire to work in a culturally-responsive and client-centered setting
  • Experience working in community-based settings
  • Experience working with trauma-informed and harm-reduction models of care
  • Experience working in a medical or integrated healthcare setting
  • Experience or desire to work with cis-gender women and transgender people
  • Must be able to work some evenings (until 8pm)
  • Strong Preference: Bilingual Spanish-English

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong computer skills. Experience working with Health Information Technology, such as EMR/EHR or patient registry
  • Commitment to working in an environment offering the full-scope of primary and transgender care and pregnancy options counseling.
  • Willingness to be an ambassador on behalf of the HealthRIGHT360, understanding that all staff contributes towards tasks related to promoting and fundraising for the Clinic.

Typical physical demands:

  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.
Compensation: $80,000.00-$85,000.00
