Schedule: 40 hours per week; includes morning, evening & weekends


GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The mission of the Women’s Community Clinic is to improve the health and well-being of women and girls.  We believe preventive, educational care is essential to lifelong health and that all women deserve excellent health care, regardless of their ability to pay.  We work hard to ensure that each client feels comfortable and safe using her voice to direct the care she receives.

Since 1999, the Women’s Community Clinic has used an innovative workforce development-based business model to provide affordable and accessible health care services to Bay Area women and girls. With a proven track record of success, the Clinic has earned a reputation as a safe, welcoming environment where uninsured women can access high-quality health services.

The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a critical role in the coordination, development, and expansion of our community-based programs at the Clinic that serve vulnerable clients. The Coordinator will coordinate community engagement, clinical, and insurance enrollment activities that reach underserved, homeless/marginally housed, and/or public housing residents with a focus on the Western Addition and Mission neighborhoods of San Francisco.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Community-Based Programming and Collaboration-50%

  • Coordinate and co-facilitate community-based health education and workforce training activities at various sites (including public housing, CBO partner sites, HealthRight360 service sites).
  • Provide oversight, staffing and operations support on a weekly basis for: Street Outreach (Tuesday evening) and Ladies Night (Thursday evening).
  • Attendance and participation in key community-based partner collaboratives and events: Mo’ Magic Collaborative, Mission SRO Collaborative, Ladies Night Collaborative, Generations Black LGBTIQQ History.
  • Oversee inventory ordering and storage for all community programs.
  • Coordinate and co-facilitate LTernship program in partnership with CEW Manager and Mission Neighborhood Resource Center and other partners.
  • Support community-based health insurance enrollment and education.

Outreach Health Worker Management, Supervision, Training, and Evaluation-30%

  • Lead the recruitment, screening, and scheduling of Outreach Health Workers (including externs from partner organizations) in partnership with Workforce Coordinator, CEW Manager, SRO Collaborative Coordinator, and Extern Site Coordinators
  • Maintain and regularly update: onboarding, orientation and off-boarding processes; training curriculum and materials; online training platform; online attendance tracking in partnership with Workforce Coordinator and CEW Manager.
  • Organize and co-facilitate new and continuing education trainings for Outreach Health Workers twice a year in partnership with Workforce Coordinator and CEW Manager.
  • Track Outreach Health Worker attendance and evaluations.

Clinical Health Worker Shift-10%

Weekly 4-hour Clinical shift with the following responsibilities:

  • Clinic preparation: Setup, clean, and restock exam rooms for client visits; clean and sterilize lab and medical equipment.
  • Client visits: Collect and enter client vitals and relevant visit information; provide client education, screening, and counseling as needed; accurate date entry in Electronic Health Record; work with visit team in Huddles and throughout the shift.
  • Lab Work: Run in-house lab tests, accurately prepare lab packages to be sent out, assure correct data entry in Electronic Health Record.
  • Attend all mandatory Clinical Health Worker trainings.

Community Engagement and Workforce Team-10%

  • Attend regular team meetings and collaborate with department staff to plan various events and trainings for staff and within the community.
  • Participate in assigned Clinic Committees and workgroups.
  • Provide monthly reporting for partner subcontracts and deliverables.
  • Support data collection and reporting for Clinic grants, reports, and newsletters.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to the mission and goals of the Women’s Community Clinic.
  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum 4-year equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working with any or all of the following populations: low-income/underserved individuals and communities, homeless or marginally-housed women, injection drug users, sex workers, SRO/public housing residents, people experiencing mental illness or trauma.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working closely with electronic health records and practice management systems.
  • A minimum of one year of experience providing direct clinical services to patients within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel); Project management software (Excel, Basecamp, Roadmap)
  • A minimum of one year of experience providing insurance enrollment and eligibility support to clients.
  • Able to pass the Covered California Assister Certification program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in: conflict resolution; maintaining appropriate boundaries with community members; cultural competency and equity.
  • A minimum of 1 year direct staff or volunteer supervision; supervision within a non-profit organization and team oriented environment a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, developing project infrastructure and workflow and developing and facilitating program curriculum and trainings.
  • Desire to work in a culturally sensitive and client centered setting.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

  • An interest in and commitment to women’s health issues and health care access for underserved populations.
  • Ability to be flexible and responsive to change.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team, prioritizing workflow to meet critical deadlines and paying close attention to detail work.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to support collegiality in a small office.
  • Commitment to working in an environment offering the full scope of pregnancy options counseling.
  • Willingness to be an ambassador on behalf of the Women’s Community Clinic understanding that all staff contribute towards tasks related to promoting and fundraising for the Clinic.

 

Salary and Benefits:

  • The Clinic provides a competitive total compensation package at the mid-range of the San Francisco nonprofit and healthcare labor markets.  The salary range for this position is $21 to $22 an hour, depending on experience.

Physical demands:

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing for up to 3 hours at a time
  • Requires hand eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.  May require up to 3 hours of typing at a time.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and to communicate with staff in a busy clinic environment
  • Requires lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, carrying, and walking
